About the event

Bernini’s Sculpture in the Villa Borghese, Rome.

Gian Lorenzo Bernini epitomises the glorious Baroque in 17thcentury Rome. Working for successive Popes, he orchestrated dramatic combinations of architecture and sculpture in and around St. Peter’s. But how did he start? His early work is shown in his superb figural sculptures: Aeneas, Anchises and Ascanius, Pluto and Persephone, Apollo and Daphne then David, at the Villa Borghese.
